END CHILD MARRIAGE PROJECT
On July 11, 2024, Just Mercy Non-Profit Organization launched a campaign featuring workshops designed to raise community awareness about the dangers of Civil Status Law No. 188, which mandates the marriage of minors, and the potential consequences of its enactment. Global Car Care sponsors these campaigns with limited budgets, while Just Mercy anticipates future initiatives with increased funding, broader awareness, and action projects.
We conducted presentations at public schools to educate students about the critical issue of child marriage, empowering them to share this important information with their families. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the significant impact child marriage has on the well-being of minors, particularly girls.
We also visited high-traffic public areas, with the permission of property managers, to display banners raising awareness about the risks associated with Civil Status Law No. 188. This initiative not only educates the community about the legal and social implications of the law but also encourages collective action to prevent the marriage of minors.
Finally, we visited women in the comfort of their homes to present the campaign, which is committed to protecting the safety and future of young girls. We firmly believe that by educating girls about their rights and the serious dangers of early marriage, the campaign equips them with the power to make informed, life-altering decisions. This critical knowledge helps them recognize potential risks and empowers them to take action, ensuring they can seek help when needed to secure their future.
